What does the admission procedure look like?
The admission procedure is in line with the admission procedures of TU/e and TiU. You can either apply through either Eindhoven University of Technology or Tilburg University. An admission committee will assess your application.
What does the admissions process entail for international students?
For students with a BSc degree from a foreign institute, the admission committee will determine under what conditions (if any) a student can be admitted to the program.

Is a pre-master’s program available?
There is a pre-master’s program available for students with a Bachelor degree at University level - Bachelor of Schience. A pre-master program wil start in February in anticipation of the start of the master's program in september and in September, after which you can blend into the master's program in February.

Pre-Master program for Bachelor students of Vocational Education / "Hogeschool" level
Currently there is no admission possible for BS students. Right now there is only a pre-master program available for students with a Bachelor of Science degree at University level. We are working on a full-year pre-master program for BS (“Hogeschool”) students in collaboration with Fontyhs and Avans and expect to launch this in the next academic year (2017-2018).

Where and how can I enroll?
You can apply through the websites of Eindhoven University of Technology or Tilburg University. When you apply at one of both universities, you will automatically be registered at the other.

In which language is the program taught?
When can I start the program?
The MSc program commences in September. There will be a possibility to start in February for pre-master students.
What is the scope and duration of the Master’s program?
The MSc Data Science and Entrepreneurship is a two-year program. The program is based on two scientific disciplines: data science and entrepreneurship.
Data science aims at deriving actionable insights from large amounts of data.
Entrepreneurship involves the successful development of new business models and entrepreneurial ventures by exploiting new algorithms, models, theories, tools, and project solutions in data science.
Data science entrepreneurs are able to monetize the flood of data that is generated in this digital age, by exploiting the economic value of personal data, developing novel ways to get actionable insights from data streams, exploring novel marketing models, and much more. Data science entrepreneurs combine knowledge about management and business models with deep knowledge of data science methods from mathematics, statistics and computer science They understand the imperatives and constraints arising from law, regulations and ethical considerations.
How is the program divided into contact hours and independent study?
On average, each course will consist of approximately 10-15 contact hours and 25-30 hours independent study per week.
What does the curriculum look like?
The program is currently being developed. Below is an overview of the curriculum. Each course involves 6 ECTS credits, except for the Master Thesis project, which is assigned 30 ECTS credits.

Master of Science (MSc) in Data Science and Entrepreneurship.
What are my career opportunities?
There is an explosive demand for Data Scientists! Not only in the Netherlands, but worldwide also, growth in the number of data scientist vacancies is exponential.
McKinsey estimates that in 2018, in the United States alone, there will be 140,000 to 190,000 vacancies for specialists with deep analytical knowledge. According to research by Dialogic, the number of vacancies for data scientists in the Netherlands doubled between 2014 and 2015. It is expected that this trend will continue.

No, not yet. But, a study association will be formed in 2016-2017.

Do I need to live on the Mariënburg Campus?
No, you are free to live wherever you want: in Eindhoven, Tilburg or ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Student accommodation is available on the Mariënburg Campus in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
Am I a student of Tilburg or Eindhoven?
You can enroll at either university. Your registration will apply to both universities.
Is industry involved in the program?
Yes, we are currently in contact with over 300 companies who are willing to participate in the MSc program as partner.
From which university will I receive my degree?
You will receive a joint degree from Tilburg University and the University of Technology Eindhoven
Will I need to travel to Eindhoven or Tilburg or are all classes given in s-Hertogenbosch?
The compulsory part of the program is given on the campus in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Travel to Eindhoven and Tilburg is required for electives. There are excellent train connections between the three campuses (half hour traveling time by train).
Are there any lectures/courses by internationally acclaimed experts?
Renowned lecturers and experts are regularly invited to visit the Mariënburg Campus for a shorter or longer teaching or research period.
Will there be a facility to help me create a startup during or after my Master’s?
Yes, startup facilities, with business development support, are available on the campus.
Is Mariënburg only used for this MSc program or are there other activities?
JADS hosts the MSc Data Science & Entrepreneurship at the new vibrant campus in the city of ‘s Hertogenbosch, located in a former convent. It offers students the best of both worlds: a campus life in the heart of a bustling city. It’s the place where students, researchers and industry join forces. Besides the Master’s program, also the PDEng and PhD are hosted at Marienburg.
Do I have access to student facilities in Eindhoven and Tilburg (including sports facilities and libraries)?
Yes, you have access to all student facilities on both campuses.
