a boost for the economic climate of ‘s-Hertogenbosch
The Master program Data Science Entrepreneurship is a novelty for ‘s-Hertogenbosch: never previously in its history did the city host an academic program. The opening of the Graduate School as part of Jheronimus Academy of Data Science is a major boost for the city as prime business location and center of education. The Mariënburg Convent – in which the Graduate School is located – itself has a long history as home to educational institutes.
Data Science and Entrepreneurship
The unique combination of Data Science and entrepreneurship, fits in well with the spirit of ‘s-Hertogenbosch. It reflects the city’s reputation as an open and welcoming, networking hub, where startups flourish in the upbeat business climate. This fact was recently endorsed by het Financieele Dagblad’s annual ‘Gazelle Awards’. In 2015, the fastest growing ‘Gazelle’ companies in the Brabant and Limburg regions were located in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. A number of these fast growing companies are ICT-related. In fact, the city is home to no less than 500 ICT companies, employing over 7,000 people. As technological developments within the industry continue to take place at an ever-increasing speed, it is expected that the number of ICT companies in the city will increase even further.
Data research is also a swiftly emerging science that will open up an untold number of opportunities for new economic activities. The program will not only benefit ICT companies, but other regional industries also, including agriculture and construction.
Jheronimus Academy of Data Science
We are proud and glad to be part of the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science and to be able to welcome and this new Master program and the Graduate School to our city. This regional cooperation between Tilburg University, University of Technology Eindhoven and Brabant - who are all partners in the program - is unique to the Netherlands.
