Screening and fraud investigations are placing increasing demands on professionals. Cases are becoming more complex, data sources more diverse, and available capacity remains limited. At the same time,
AI is creating new opportunities to organize information more quickly, identify patterns, and better support investigative work.
This 3-day bootcamp was developed by JADS in collaboration with govtech startup Avendar for professionals who want to understand how AI can assist with screening and fraud investigations without relinquishing the investigator’s control.
About this bootcamp
Bootcamp AI against Fraud and Subversion is a hands-on program for professionals who want to use AI in screening, fraud, security, and subversion investigations without relinquishing control.
You’ll learn how AI can help analyze large volumes of documents, transactions, networks, and other data sources. In the process, you’ll discover not only what AI is capable of, but also its limitations, the risks involved, and how to apply AI responsibly and in compliance with legal requirements within your organization.
The emphasis is on learning by doing. You’ll work with familiar real-world challenges and get started in your own secure AI environment with a first application tailored to your work context. This allows you to immediately apply the knowledge you’ve gained to your own organization and leave with concrete tools to further explore and implement AI.

AI is evolving at breakneck speed. Organizations that build experience now will be better prepared for future investigative challenges and new forms of fraud and subversion.
In order to use AI responsibly, you need to understand more than just what’s technically feasible. It’s also important to know which data is suitable, where errors can occur, how to verify results, and what legal and ethical boundaries apply.
In this 3-day bootcamp, you’ll get hands-on experience with AI applications for screening and fraud investigations. You’ll learn what AI can and cannot do, explore relevant tools, and apply these capabilities to your own investigative practice.

For this bootcamp, JADS is partnering with Avendar, a Dutch GovTech and AI startup that develops technology for research, intelligence, and combating fraud and crime in the public sector. Avendar helps public organizations transform fragmented information into actionable insights, including through automated data analysis and anomaly detection.

This bootcamp is relevant for professionals working in the fields of fraud, subversion, oversight, enforcement, compliance, or security. No prior technical knowledge is required. However, it helps if you work with investigative processes, risk assessments, information analysis, or decision-making.

Program
The boot camp consists of three sessions.
Day 1 – 6 November 2026: Fundamentals, Data, and Responsible Use
You’ll start with the basics: what is AI, how does generative AI work generally, and what applications are relevant to fraud and subversion investigations? You’ll explore what types of data are usable, what limitations exist, and how AI can support
information processing. You’ll also discuss the key risks. How do you ensure the quality of AI outputs? How do you address bias, privacy, transparency, and human oversight? The emphasis is on understanding, critically evaluating, recognizing where traditional detection falls short, and applying AI responsibly within an investigative context.
Day 2 – 20 November 2026: Applications in Investigation and Analysis
On the second day, you’ll explore AI in the context of fraud investigations. You’ll work with examples involving transactions, permit applications, annual reports, public records, and other case files. You’ll explore how AI can help identify patterns and anomalies, and how to interpret results without jumping to conclusions. You’ll also map out your own work process. Where does information processing take a lot of time? Where does noise arise? Where can AI provide support, and where is human interpretation indispensable? This way, you’ll translate the possibilities of AI into real-life situations within your own organization.
Day 3 – 4 December 2026: Build Your Prototype with Industry Experts
On the third day, you’ll work toward a concrete application for your own organization or team. You’ll use insights from the first two days to develop a concrete solution. Together with experts from Avendar, you’ll assess feasibility, risks, and next steps. This way, you’ll gain hands-on experience of what AI can contribute to information processing and analysis, while maintaining control over your own environment. You’ll leave with a working initial prototype that you can use to move forward within your organization.
