Practical information

  • Completed Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree and several years of work experience
  • Affinity with analytics and IT, and the ambition to learn programming skills. Typical STEM background (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).
  • Ambition to grow in senior professional position, combining technical expertise with boundary-crossing skills in leadership, entrepreneurship, complex problem solving and critical thinking.
Certified Data Scientist. Certificates issued by JADS, signed by our Academic Director, Prof. Jos van Hillegersberg, and 1 of our Community Academic Directors . On the basis of the quality of the group assignment.
We offer several electives:

From Level 1 and up, our programs offers a range of electives. In the second half of the Level 1 program you can either choose a specialization (sector) or choose your own learning path. Together with a mentor you choose the electives that are most relevant to you. Electives like:

  • Health
  • Public
  • Industry
  • Professional Services
  • Mobility.

The Mariënburg, a former convent in the historical center of Den Bosch, is JADS’ home. It’s a welcoming, inspirational and atmospheric environment for life-long learning, with the former chapel functioning as the main auditorium, and the vast complex offering many surprising authentic details reminiscent of its former function.

Your curriculum:

  • Leading data‐science projects: how to get things done?
  • Visualization
  • Data modelling and relational database management
  • Time‐series forecasting
  • Data and privacy law
  • Decision quality
  • Introduction to deep learning
  • Text mining and natural‐language processing (NLP)
  • Community specialization: depending on the sector where you work, you follow a sector‐specific program aimed at helping you integrate data science in your work field.
    • Community‐specific courses include: data‐driven service integration, data‐driven healthcare, business analytics, production planning and data‐driven supply‐chain management, marketing analytics, smart and predictive maintenance, new business concepts driven by data and analytics, Industry 4.0 and the role of data and AI.

  • Together with a team of classmates, you develop a realistic data‐science solution in a complex and challenging group project supported by technical experts and the Communities’ Academic Directors.

We believe in Data Scientists being T-shaped professionals

The T shape visualizes the idea that a successful career is based on the combination of deep technical expertise (the vertical bar) and wide and broad boundary-crossing skills (the horizontal bar).

Data scientists master the technical skills of data engineering, and know how to use data-warehouses, build a data pipeline and access Big Data cloud solutions. They have the analytical skills of machine learning, and can translate a business opportunity into a data-science problem, apply the data-analytic workflow to develop a model, and test and implement it in a Python environment.

Data scientists are also business savvy, understand how business models and strategies work, are able to manage data-science projects delivering results, and in general, know what it takes to get things done in large and complex organizations.
