Supercomputing Brabant officially launched at JADS
Posted on
On September 23, Supercomputing Brabant was officially launched during an event at JADS in ’s-Hertogenbosch. The new initiative by Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Tilburg University, Brabant Development Agency (BOM) and the Province of Noord-Brabant aims to give companies, researchers and public organisations in Brabant access to advanced AI computing power, expertise and support.
For many organisations, developing and scaling AI applications requires computing capacity and specialist expertise that are not readily available. Supercomputing Brabant aims to lower this barrier by combining advanced AI infrastructure with expert support and access to a regional ecosystem of companies, researchers and public organisations.
The initiative gives participants access to one of the most advanced AI computing facilities in the Netherlands, using NVIDIA DGX B300 technology. The Province of North Brabant is investing €4 million in the initiative, providing computing capacity and staffing for the first two years. During this period, participating organisations will be able to explore and develop AI models and applications together with the Supercomputing Brabant expert team.
From computing power to impact
The launch event at JADS brought together entrepreneurs, researchers, policymakers and innovation leaders to explore what is needed to turn advanced computing power into real-world impact.
The program was moderated by Anique Kuijpers of the JADS MKB Datalab. Martijn van Gruijthuijsen, Provincial Executive for Economy, Talent Development & Finance, opened the event, followed by Patrick Groothuis, Vice-President of the Executive Board of TU/e, who placed the initiative in a regional, European and global context. Keynotes by Ruben R. of NVIDIA and Jeroen van Glabbeek of CM.com showed what working with AI at scale can mean in practice.
A recurring theme throughout the morning was that computing power alone is not enough. Making advanced AI infrastructure accessible also requires expertise, collaboration and trust: from helping organisations identify valuable applications to creating an environment in which knowledge and data can be used responsibly and securely.
Supercomputing Brabant will spend the coming two years further developing this ecosystem and working with companies and institutions on new AI applications.
