Data Science Center 's-Hertogenbosch
Data Science Center Den Bosch (DSC/d) is set up as a research and innovation center. The research focus of DSC/d is on adding value with data science, such as data entrepreneurship and data innovation. It entails the fundamental question on how to create societal and economic value with data. Here we aim to understand in which areas of the data value chain, value is destroyed or created. Does the potential value of data science reside in the uniqueness of the data, in the algorithms applied to the data, in the visualization and the services created, or in the uniqueness of a business model?

All other fundamental research will be conducted in the larger data science research centers of Eindhoven and Tilburg.
In addition DSC/d has a second important function; that of innovation center on the topic of data science. In Den Bosch JADS will interact closely with the data science innovation ecosystem. New insights and findings from our three research centers will be brought further from Den Bosch. Hereto we not only have extensive contacts with the larger European data science ecosystem, but we also have an incubator (for start-ups) and an accelerator (for scale-ups). Moreover DSC/b has an extensive mentoring network on the broad spectrum of data science.
The question of creating (societal) value with data is a difficult one. To transform organizations from brick-and-mortar companies with steep hierarchies to data driven organizations with self-directing data science teams is quite difficult. The transition of our society to a data driven society is also puzzling. How do we transform the disruptive force of data science to a better society? Here crucial social questions on ethics, human technology interaction, privacy, competition and IP have yet to be answered. Nevertheless DSC/b aims to study and find answers on the topic of value creation. Moreover it wants to bring this value to society by developing new ideas and further new economic development.
