Biography
Ana Isabel Barros is Professor AI and Data Science in the area of organized and subversive crime at the Tilburg University, Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS), Applied Research Professor Intelligence at the Netherlands Police Academy and Principal scientist at TNO. She has been actively involved in a wide scope of international and national defence and security projects in the areas of intelligence, subversive crime, operational analysis and complex systems modelling as well as artificial intelligence applications for intelligence analysis, operational planning and policy evaluation. She acts as scientific advisor the National Police Intelligence organization, is associated editor, among others, of the NATO Science and Technology journal and scientific advisor of several EU projects. She has received multiple awards like the NATO Service Award in recognition of her longstanding and significant contributions to the NATO OR&A community (2024) and the INFORMS Best Dissertation on Location Analysis of 1995 award

JADS also participates in several (international) projects, which contribute to grand societal challenges like health, food security, smart transport and secure societies. Together with companies, government, NGO’s and other knowledge institutions, JADS works on solutions by using data.
