Tiffany Matej Hrkalovic is a postdoctoral researcher in Data Entrepreneurship. Her research focuses on how people choose partners for cooperative and collaborative tasks, how they form perceptions of their conversation partners, and the role social cues play in these processes. Positioned at the intersection of social psychology, neuroscience, and social signal processing, her work explores these dynamics through real-life interactions.
Tiffany’s research to date has applied machine learning to automatically detect non-verbal behavior and examined its impact on person perception and partner selection. Her future work aims to integrate insights from social psychology, neuroscience, and machine learning to develop socially intelligent decision support systems. These systems would help individuals reflect on their social behavior and improve partner selection.
JADS also participates in several (international) projects, which contribute to grand societal challenges like health, food security, smart transport and secure societies. Together with companies, government, NGO’s and other knowledge institutions, JADS works on solutions by using data.
