Posted on

Den Bosch, March 28, 2024 – On May 26, 2024, the Vestingloop in Den Bosch is taking place. This is not only a beautiful athletic event, but also an opportunity for data collection as part of research by the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS). In cooperation with JADS, a number of participants in the Vestingloop will be equipped with measuring instruments to collect data on the impact of exercise on health conditions such as diabetes, arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Research program

The research, led by professor Aarnout Brombacher, affiliated with both JADS and Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), is part of the Itea-TREAT research program. This program focuses on the relationship between exercise and health, where data is extremely valuable.

During the Vestingloop, teams from JADS will participate in various distances, equipped with measuring instruments to collect both quantitative and qualitative data. In addition, students will conduct interviews with participants and spectators to gain insight into their motivation for participating in the event.

Free Expert Talk

In addition to the research, Prof. Brombacher will host a free Expert Talk on April 9 at JADS in Den Bosch. During this talk, he will discuss the fascinating relationship between sports and data, and share practical tips on how athletes can use data to improve workouts and achieve fitness goals.

The Expert Talk, aimed at athletes, fitness enthusiasts and those interested in to technology in sports, offers a unique opportunity to learn from a leading expert in the field. With 6 weeks to go until the Vestingloop, this is the perfect timing to apply the knowledge gained directly into your training schedule.
