Professor of information systems in healthcare

  • Research profile: research on intelligent systems for decision support
  • Research expertise: computational intelligence, fuzzy systems, decision support, machine learning, explainable AI, health analytics, clinical decision support, business intelligence, soft computing

Uzay Kaymak is Full Professor of Information Systems in Healthcare at JADS. After his studies at Delft University of Technology, he has held positions at Shell International Exploration and Production, and Erasmus University Rotterdam. His research focuses on fuzzy modeling, intelligent decision support systems, data mining and computational intelligence methods, where linguistic information, represented either as declarative linguistic rules derived from experts or obtained through natural language processing, is combined with numerical information extracted from data by computational and machine learning methods. His research outcomes have been used in various fields such as financial decision-making and clinical decision support. Prof. Kaymak is an internationally acknowledged researcher, who has (co)-authored more than 300 scientific publications in the fields of intelligent systems, computerized decision support and computational intelligence. In the past, he has been a visiting professor at Salford University, UK and Zhejiang University, China. He is also a member of EAISI.
