JADS MKB Datalab celebrates first lustrum: a recap

Posted on

On June 9, 2023, the JADS MKB Datalab celebrated its first lustrum with a small-scale and celebratory event. Around 50 visitors were present, including students, representatives of companies with which the MKB Datalab has collaborated, partners and everyone who feels sympathy for the initiative. The atmosphere was enthusiastic and inspired, bringing together everyone involved with the MKB Datalab.

Over the past five years, the JADS MKB Datalab has grown from an idea to help entrepreneurs move forward through the use of data to a full-fledged project office that provides a one-stop shop for SMEs to carry out affordable, flexible and valuable data projects with students. Where traditional collaborations between organizations and education often focus on the learning process of students, the SME Datalab focuses on the business owner’s knowledge question. This gives students valuable tutoring experience outside the regular educational curriculum.

The event featured a presentation highlighting the origins and highlights of the MKB Datalab’s past five years. In addition to employees of the MKB  Datalab, a student and a business partner spoke to share their experiences. The afternoon concluded with drinks where the sunny and attractive garden of JADS provided an ideal setting.

The event coincided with the kick-off of a new project round, festively launching the 300th SME Datalab project for the company JM van Delft. This milestone underlines the success of the MKB Datalab in supporting companies with their data challenges.

Some facts & figures about the MKB Datalab:

  • A total of 301 projects were carried out, with 46 companies collaborating multiple times with the MKB Datalab.

The event also provided space for a glimpse into the future. Visitors were invited to share their ideas on how the MKB Datalab can further develop and optimally support entrepreneurs on their data journey. The MKB Datalab will continue its efforts to show entrepreneurs the way in the field of data.
